The island of Aegina is mostly family oriented which lays just 10 nm of the coasts of Attica.
Besides the main town’s port, there are quite a few more options for mooring/anchoring such as Aghia Marina, Souvala, Perdika or the adjacent island Moni.
Due to its close proximity to Athens, the island has had a significant development that goes back to the very ancient years.
It is certainly worthwhile to visit the ancient temple of Afaia, which is located about 1 1/2 Km (1 mi) north of Aghia Marina, as it is one of the most well-preserved ancient antiquities in Greece.
The town of Aegina is getting more and more touristic every year, yet it does do a good job maintaining its traditional colors.
Fresh fish and local specialties are available in every restaurant, while coffee and beverages are served in the numerous cafes at the seafront.
While in Aegina, do not miss the opportunity to get a fresh bag of pistachio, as Aegina is the “pistachio’s homeland”.
A large variety of sweets made of this famous nut can also be found in most local stores.
Please don’t forget to stroll around Aegina’s streets and admire her beauty and culture.
