Andros is a beautiful island member of the Cyclades complex, which preserved its traditional colors and style so neatly that will charm every visitor. Is the northernmost island and the second in size after Naxos among the Cycladic islands.
It is a family-oriented island with a moderate nightlife yet some really amazing beaches that suit every taste. Kipri, Pisolimnionas, Fellos, Batsi, Stivari, and Apothikes are just a few of the beaches one can find in Andros. Among other activities, a visitor can enjoy hiking, windsurfing, scuba diving, and off-road 4WD driving!
The main port is Batsi where ferries from Rafina come and go on regular intervals every day, hosts also private and charter yachts. Another port located near Hora (the main town) is mainly operating as a marina for smaller yachts and fishermen’s boats.
Because of its position, Andros has always been a strategic island, even from the ancient years. During the 11th and 12th centuries BC the island gains a lot of prosperity and growth mainly because of the trade of silk and its commercial shipping.
in the mid-’50s Andros lost a lot of population due to immigration abroad, or people moving massively to Athens. However, in the last 20 years, Andros started gaining some of its growth back, this time mainly because of the tourism!
